by Tarrega, Romance Anonymous, a study by Carcassi, Valse Venozolano by Antonio
Lauro, Tango en Skai by Roland Dyens, Asturias by Isaac Albeniz, El ultimo
Tremolo by Augustin Barrios Mangore as well as an improvisation based upon
a Tarantas and a blues improvisation
Sunday, June 24, 2001 London (England). Concert in a back garden in West London: Robert played Requerdos de Alhambra by Tarrega, Romance Anonymous, a study by Carcassi, Valse Venozolano by Antonio Lauro, Tango en Skai by Roland Dyens. Also performed pieces by Astor Piazzolla together with Japanese flutist Kiyoka Ohara.
Friday June 16, 2001 Kortrijk (Belgium) Robert Bekkers plays in the small ensemble of Berdien Stenberg, the famous Dutch flutist. He played a Tarantas, as introduction to Bizet's Carmen and his own composition "Highlander" as introduction to Westside Story.
Saturday, May 26, 2001 Alkmaar (Holland) Triple performance with violinist Mira Roos for different audiences. Very nice reaction from both the audience as well as the press. Program consisted of: Bach, Fiocco, Massenet, Sibelius and Piazzolla. Also played solo piece: Cappriccio Arabe from F. Tarrega. CDs of the performed pieces were sold after the concert.
Monday, April 16, 2001. London. House concert for a select group of people. Played a small program with pieces from: Bach, Vivaldi, Tarrega, Barrios, Albeniz, as well as two improvisations based upon blues and flamenco Tangos. Prelude for Anne Ku was also played. Nice audience.
Saturday, April 14, 2001. Birmingham. House concert for small group of friends and family. Played pieces from Bach, Albeniz, Tarrega, the Vivaldi guitar concerto in D for piano and guitar. Also played two solo improvisations based upon blues-bluegrass and Tarantas, and a piano-guitar improvisation. Lots of pleasant people.
Sunday April 8, 2001. Amsterdam. Small house concert at Heleen Verleur's residence. Played pieces by Tarrega and Moreno-Torroba. Also premiered his composition he wrote for Anne Ku. A very personal atmosphere, positive feedback.
Friday March 30, 2001. CREA music hall, Amsterdam. After a full day of rehearsal the "Orchestra of the Moment" , a project carried out by Stichting Swing and organized by Robert Bekkers, played a full hour of improvised music. Directed by Robert Avalon. Special experience.
Wednesday February 21, 2001. Brugge (Belgium). Played with Berdien Stenberg and her small ensemble, also performed solos and flute-guitar duets. Very well visited beautiful theater!
Sunday December 24, 2000. Heerlen (Holland). Meditation Concert after just one day of rehearsal but two intense weeks of composing. Over one hour of personal music with tape, percussion by Serge van Empelen, Flute by Ester Limpens, violin by Mira Roos and of course a lot of guitars. Intermediate "soundscapes" were made by Coen Tomas. Audience asked for CDs.
Saturday December 16, 2000. Cologne (Germany). Concert with Berdien Stenberg and a large string group. For a wealthy Dutch business company. Incredible party in a magnificent old castle. Now an expensive hotel.
Monday December 11, 2000. Antwerp (Belgium). Berdien Stenberg Elisabethzaal . Atmospheric ambience that enabled all performers play relaxed but focussed. A good concert.
Wednesday November 15, 2000. Heerlen (Holland).Classical solo concert. Played Giuliani, Tarrega, Moreno-Torroba, Turina and Bach. A small hall above a café, about half filled. People really loved it.
Saturday October 28, 2000. Background flamenco guitarist during a BIG business party. Played flamenco and classical Spanish pieces for two hours. Big applause when they announced my name.
Tour to Curacao, December 1999. Played some concerts in the Van der Valk Hotel, visited by Dutch people residing on the Island for business reasons. The first concert was interrupted by a rainfall I never experienced, as if the clouds kept the rain as long as possible and then let it out all at once. It was great moment away from home and beautiful seas, in spite of the hurricane that came by a bit before we arrived. I met a girl there and we tried to find the military base my father worked on when he was there. I took many pictures, only to find out later that it was the wrong place! Now I have to get back to get pictures from the right place.
Tour to Oman, October1998. Stayed in an incredible hotel with a fantastic kitchen. We played for the local Shell department that was there to organise the gas distribution. It was believed that Oman will run out of oil within the next thirty years, so they needed a new infrastructure for gas. We played for Shell and people in high places. A very nice concert in a very nice country. Hot, dry, warm sea (that is incredible!) with great possibilities for scuba diving.
