what more beauty do we need?
Robert Bekkers (guitar) & Mira Roos (violin)
|
Robert Bekkers and Mira Roos form a duo to explore original, interesting and joyful music. A duo with magic and emotion through a high standard of performance. Their repertoire is interesting and diverse, ranging from relatively unknown works by Dutch composers Henk Badings and Alexander Meijer van Bremen to better-known pieces of classical masters such as George F. Handel and Johann Christian Bach. What sets them apart is their own unique arrangements and transcriptions of instrumental works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Manuel De Falla, and Pablo de Sarasate. Duo Magenta performs throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. Their programs aim to convey, in addition to the beauty of guitar and violin being played together, their personal ideas about music.

Robert Bekkers, guitar Robert Bekkers learned the French horn and trumpet from age six, before focusing on the guitar at the age of twelve. After receiving a diploma in electronics, he attended the Conservatory of Maastricht where he received his teaching and performance degrees.A scholarship enabled him to study abroad under Angelo Gilardino in Italy. Robert is versatile in classical, flamenco, jazz and other styles. While accompanying flamenco dance classes, Robert formed the group "IMPETU", mixing flamenco and classical music. He has also played with the group Serenata Mexicana, toured with the Amstel Guitar Quartet and performed with the internationally known flute player Berdien Stenberg and Jan Vayne. His skillful, original arrangements for guitar and other instruments exude a flair for diversity and virtuosity. In recent years, Robert has focussed on performing his own compositions and arrangements in a variety of settings. |
Mira Roos, violin Without a doubt Mira Roos is amongst the most talented violinists. She combines excellent technique with deep understanding of musical drama and interpretation. She began her studies at the Conservatory of Den Hague under Kees Hulsman and graduated from the Conservatory of Groningen under Jeannelotte Hertzbergen. She has been active as a violinist ever since, performing with artists such as Cor Bakker (in the show Frank Sinatra's Songbook), Frans Poptie (jazz violinist), Sjef Douwes (chamber music for radio station "Radio Noord"), Ester Apitulay (Apitulay String Ensemble), Erik Visser (Flairck- "De Gouden Eeuw"). She has also played in many ensembles, including Chamber Opera "triumph", the pop group "City to City" for TMF television and several symphony orchestras. In recent years she has focussed on writing music, recording and performing her duo with Robert Bekkers. |
